LABOUHEYRE (Landes). - Lot 175
LABOUHEYRE (Landes). Report of the inspection and appraisal of the property belonging to the estate of Blaise Chevalier. Important manuscript from 1769, approximately 7 folio pages, drafted following a joint inspection conducted on March 29, 30, 31, and April 1, 1769. Document signed by local experts, including a carpenter and a roofer, tasked with conducting a detailed inventory of the real estate comprising the estate of Blaise Chevalier, a resident of Labouheyre. The report describes with remarkable precision the condition of the buildings, barns, houses, stables, ovens, gardens, fences, roofs, roof structures, and rural outbuildings. Each structure is the subject of a detailed technical analysis: roofs in need of replacement, ruined sections of walls, beams requiring replacement, dilapidated chimneys, necessary repairs, and cost estimates for the work. The document serves as an exceptional record of the vernacular architecture of the Grande Lande in the 18th century. It provides a rare description of peasant dwellings, the organization of rural farms, and the condition of buildings in the Landes countryside under the Ancien Régime. The numerous technical references to the materials used (clay, tiles, wood, roofing, and roof frames) as well as to agricultural outbuildings make this document of particular interest for the history of rural construction and regional heritage. Labouheyre, 1769.
