JOLLIVET (Gaston, 1842–1927). Signed autograph letter. Paris, October 13, 1898. 2 pp. in-8, on letterhead with a monogram and the printed address 13 rue Saint-Florentin. A friendly letter addressed to a female correspondent, mentioning visits, expressions of thanks, “Madame Jaluzot,” and a reference to the Mathurins. Jollivet concludes: “Yours devotedly,” and signs Gaston Jollivet. A journalist, man of letters, and playwright, Gaston Jollivet was a prominent figure in the Parisian literary and social scene of the late 19th century. He contributed to *Le Figaro*, *Le Gaulois*, *Le Matin*, and *Paris illustré*, among others. He is also the author of memoirs on the Second Empire, the War of 1870, and the Paris Commune. Condition: good condition; central crease, slight soiling.
