HUGUES LE ROUX (1860–1925). - Lot 161
HUGUES LE ROUX (1860–1925). Autograph card signed to Madame Walbaum and her daughters. Paris, March 1892. Signed autograph card, 1 page, in-8 format. A courteous message addressed to Madame Walbaum and her daughters, written in connection with his relationship with the Walbaum family of Reims. The author asks his correspondent to convey: “my respectful regards” to Madame Walbaum, and sends his daughters an affectionate greeting, recalling in particular a previous trip to Norway. A lovely testament to the personal friendships maintained by Hugues Le Roux with one of his family friends in the provinces. 1 item. Very good condition. A charming autographed postcard illustrating the personal ties forged by Hugues Le Roux with the Walbaum family, a prominent family from Reims with whom he maintained a regular correspondence during the 1880s and 1890s. More intimate than his letters concerning his journalistic activities or lectures, this brief note reveals the warm nature of these ties. In it, the writer interweaves respectful tributes, travel memories, and expressions of affection for the family members. Such glimpses into his private social life are particularly sought after when they concern Hugues Le Roux, whose correspondence is generally dominated by literary, journalistic, or political matters. A brief social document, yet one of genuine biographical interest, it usefully complements a larger collection of correspondence addressed to Henry Walbaum.
