Henri d'Orléans and Isabelle d'Orléans-Bragance - Lot 153
Henri d'Orléans and Isabelle d'Orléans-Bragance Signed printed thank-you card (1956) Henri d'Orléans and Isabelle d'Orléans-Bragance. Official printed thank-you card, signed by the couple, Louveciennes, October 1956. A beautiful thank-you card issued on the occasion of the engagement of Prince Henri d’Orléans (1933–2019), future Count of Paris, and Princess Isabelle d’Orléans-Bragance (1936–2001). The printed text reads as follows: “We are deeply touched by the sentiments you have expressed to us on the occasion of the engagement of Prince Henri and Princess Hélène [read: Isabelle], and we extend our heartfelt thanks to you all.” Below the text, the card bears the handwritten signatures of Henri and Isabelle, written in blue ink. At the bottom are the printed notes “Louveciennes” and “October 1956,” corresponding to the period of the royal couple’s engagement. This is a typical court document representing the formal thank-you notes sent to those who offered their congratulations on the engagement. These cards, issued in limited numbers but actually mailed, are now sought-after artifacts offering a glimpse into the private life of the House of Orléans. The reverse side is blank, except for an old identification note in pencil. Condition: very good. Very slight signs of handling, with no missing parts or restoration. Well-preserved, with clear, well-defined signatures. An item of princely provenance, of interest to a collection dedicated to the House of France, the House of Orléans, or documents relating to the major European royal families of the 20th century.
