FERRIER (Gabriel) (1847–1914) Signed autograph letter, Paris, July 5, 1903. Two-page autograph letter in-8, dated Paris, July 5, 1903, signed Gabriel Ferrier. Handwritten address: 18, rue du Général-Appert. A lovely thank-you letter addressed to friends, in which the painter Gabriel Ferrier expresses his deep gratitude for the congratulations he received on the occasion of his Medal of Honor. He explains how deeply this gesture of affection touched him and how happy he is to share this distinction with his loved ones. An academic painter and student of Pils and Hébert, Gabriel Ferrier won the Prix de Rome in 1872 and enjoyed a brilliant official career. He was awarded prizes on several occasions at the Salon and received the Medal of Honor in 1903.
