ALBERT-LE-GRAND AND LAPLACE SCHOOLS - Lot 133
ALBERT-LE-GRAND AND LAPLACE SCHOOLS Signed autograph letter, Arcueil, January 27, 1898. 2-page autograph letter on 8vo letterhead from the Albert-le-Grand and Laplace Schools—Saint-Dominique and Lacordaire, Arcueil and Paris—dated January 27, 1898. Signature unidentified. An interesting letter addressed to a correspondent regarding an inspection report on the school. The author states that he has read the inspector’s conclusions with satisfaction, finding them particularly favorable; he declares he has “nothing to add” and considers the report “very good .” He then discusses the administrative follow-up required for the case, the finalization of the response to be sent, and proposes a meeting to discuss the matter at greater length. This document provides insight into the administrative and educational operations of a major Catholic school at the end of the 19th century. It illustrates the correspondence between school administrators regarding official inspections, school organization, and the management of religious schools. Founded and run by the Dominicans, the Albert-le-Grand and Laplace Schools were among the most renowned Catholic institutions in the Paris region at the end of the 19th century.
