CUSTOMS. Notice of the appointment of Jean-Baptiste Pellut as brigade inspector in Forbach. Thionville, April 3, 1826. Printed administrative letter with significant handwritten notes, 1 folio page on an official form from the Customs Personnel Division (appointment No. 6030), addressed to Jean-Baptiste Pellut, then brigade inspector in Rœchlingen. Official notice issued by the Director of Customs of the Thionville Directorate, notifying Jean-Baptiste Pellut of his appointment to the position of brigade inspector at the Forbach office, with an annual salary set at 2,000 francs. The document instructs the civil servant to report to his new assignment without delay in order to receive his salary effective the first day of the specified month. A handwritten note specifies that his duties must be covered on an interim basis until he arrives at his new post. This transfer was part of Jean-Baptiste Pellut’s steady career progression within the Customs Administration, a few months before he assumed senior positions in the border directorates of eastern France. The reverse side remains blank, with the printed address fields left unused. Satisfactory condition. Original creases, minor marginal wear, and a slight tear on the right edge that has been reinforced, without affecting the text. A fine career document illustrating the successive transfers of a senior Customs official during the Restoration.
