CUSTOMS. Official notice of the transfer of Jean-Baptiste Pelluch, brigade captain, from the Entre-deux-Guiers office to the Voiron office. Belley, October 7, 1832. Printed notice of appointment with significant handwritten annotations, 1 folio-sized sheet (printed on the front, with the back serving as the address), on laid paper. A rare administrative document issued by the Belley Customs Directorate, notifying Jean-Baptiste Pelluch, then brigade captain at Entre-deux-Guiers, of his appointment to the position of brigade inspector at the Voiron residence, with an increase in his annual salary from 2,200 to 2,900 francs. The form specifies the regulatory terms of the transfer: the deadline for assuming the new position, the effective date of the salary, the administrative consequences of any delay, and the organization of the service during the transition period. The numerous contemporary handwritten corrections and notes reflect the evolution of the decision and the administrative adjustments made before its implementation. The reverse side bears the handwritten address to the recipient, accompanied by the administrative stamps of the Customs Directorate. This document marks an important milestone in the career of Jean-Baptiste Pelluch, illustrating his promotion from brigade command to supervisory duties, and is part of a remarkable collection chronicling more than twenty years of service within the Customs Administration during the Restoration and the July Monarchy. A fine specimen despite some signs of wear, small marginal losses, and creases from handling, none of which impair the document’s legibility.
