Hector DAURÉ (1755–1805) - Lot 100
Hector DAURÉ (1755–1805) Signed service order regarding the supply of the army in Saint-Domingue. Headquarters at Le Cap, 12 Vendémiaire, Year VIII [October 4, 1799]. Official handwritten document on a printed form, 1 folio page, drawn up at the Headquarters in Le Cap, dated 12 Vendémiaire, Year VIII of the French Republic (October 4, 1799), signed by Hector Dauré. Hector Dauré (1755–1805), chief quartermaster of the armies of Saint-Domingue, was one of the principal officials of the French military administration in the colony during the final years of the Revolution. He exercised overall authority over the army’s quartermaster, finance, and supply services. An important service order addressed to the administrative and military authorities, ordering the delivery of thirty-six barrels of top-quality flour to Citizen Esculape, in replacement of a shipment previously delivered to the Fort-Liberté food storehouse. The document orders that this expense be recorded in the administration’s accounts and specifies that the supporting documents and the inventory of the shipment are attached to the order. A document characteristic of the French army’s logistical organization in Saint-Domingue, at the height of the War of Saint-Domingue, illustrating the ongoing supply difficulties faced by the Republican troops. Beautiful autograph signature by Hector Dauré. Condition: generally good. Old creases from correspondence, foxing and water stains, minor marginal damage, and tiny perforations that do not affect readability. Attractive presentation.
