COMMISSION OF THE VETERANS' FUND AND PENSIONERS' RELIEF FUND - Lot 85
COMMISSION OF THE VETERANS' FUND AND PENSIONERS' RELIEF FUND FOR THE FORMER CIVIL SERVICE LIST. Notice of payment of a pension dividend. Paris, February 18, 1836. Printed document with handwritten additions, 1 folio page, dated Paris, February 18, 1836, issued by the Commission of the Veterans’ and Pensioners’ Relief Fund of the Former Civil List. An interesting administrative document notifying a pensioner of her eligibility for a pension dividend for the second half of the 1835 fiscal year, in accordance with the provisions of the law of June 29, 1835. The document specifies that the beneficiary is entitled to receive the sum of one hundred eighty-one francs and sixty centimes (181 fr. 60 c.), payable upon presentation of her pension certificate, a life certificate, and the required supporting documents. The notice bears several handwritten annotations, signatures acknowledging receipt, and audit notes, attesting to its actual processing by the Commission’s offices. The beneficiary is identified as Mrs. Martin de Saint-Martin, née Bourruin (Jeanne). Note: The document was historically mounted on a sturdy paper backing, likely as part of an administrative file or archival collection. This mounting is old and is now part of the document’s physical history. Condition: signs of use. Foxing spots, traces of moisture, old creases, and soiling. The document is glued to mounting paper, making it impossible to examine the reverse side without restoration work. The document remains perfectly legible.
