CABANÈS (Dr. Augustin) (1862–1928) - Lot 60
CABANÈS (Dr. Augustin) (1862–1928) Signed autograph letter, Paris, December 25, 1917. One-page autograph letter in-8 on letterhead from *La Chronique Médicale* (15 Rue Lacépède, Paris), with preserved and postmarked envelope. Addressed to Paul d’Estrée, a colleague and historian, this letter is a warm reply to congratulations received on the occasion of the publication of a book. Cabanès thanks his correspondent for his kind words, mentions a research project dedicated to Madame Roland, as well as several historical studies on the French Revolution. He discusses various sources, notably the works of Dr. Robinet and Lenôtre, points out several bibliographic challenges, and exchanges views on the identification of certain historical documents. This particularly interesting correspondence illustrates the working methods of one of the leading historians of medicine and the French Revolution in the early 20th century. A very fine copy accompanied by its original envelope.
