BENJAMIN (René). - Lot 49
BENJAMIN (René). Autographed card addressed to Bernard Grasset. Paris, February 18, 1930. Autograph card, 1 page, oblong in-12 format, dated February 18, 1930, addressed to Bernard Grasset. René Benjamin (1885–1948), a French writer, journalist, and lecturer, winner of the 1915 Prix Goncourt for *Gaspard*, had a long-standing relationship with Bernard Grasset, who published his first book, *Madame Bonheur*, in 1909. In this card, the author warmly congratulates Bernard Grasset on his success as a publisher, writing in particular: “Just because I am not published by you does not mean I should deny myself the joy of congratulating you on publishing others so well... Your success is a sign of a bold artist.” He concludes by sending him his friendly regards “in these hours of honor and pleasure.” Condition: very good condition. Slight horizontal crease from handling. Fresh ink and perfectly legible.
