[Unidentified British author] - Lot 2
[Unidentified British author] Signed autograph letter, London, August 19, 1825. Autograph signed letter (L.A.S.) of 4 pages, in-4 format, dated August 19, 1825, at 10 Hereford Street, London, preserved with its original envelope addressed to Henry Bonner, a solicitor in Plymouth. An important letter concerning a departure for the British colonies in the West Indies and Guyana. The author mentions a financial dispute regarding the repayment of 250 pounds sterling, then addresses a false report published in the press announcing his departure for Demerara. He explains that he has been called upon to serve another government and details the circumstances of his upcoming journey, also referring to Bridgetown (Barbados), local sanitary conditions, and the difficulties encountered in the colonies. An interesting account of administrative developments and relations between the British mother country and its colonial possessions in the early 19th century. Preserved in its original envelope.
