Wasquehal: A Look Back at the Past. - Lot 298
Wasquehal: A Look Back at the Past.
Wasquehal, Tourist Office, 1989.
In-8, illustrated green publisher's cardboard binding.
A beautiful book dedicated to the history of the town of Wasquehal, tracing the evolution of this town in the Nord department through a wealth of illustrations drawn from old postcards, period photographs, and archival documents. The book explores the main aspects of local life: religious heritage, public buildings, farms, textile industries, shops, folk festivals, associations, schools, and the urban transformations that shaped the town during the 19th and 20th centuries.
The photographic reproductions, many of which have never been published before, are accompanied by historical notes that allow readers to rediscover places that have disappeared or been profoundly transformed, as well as the people, traditions, and activities that shaped Wasquehal’s identity. Together, they constitute a valuable record of the social, economic, and architectural history of the Lille metropolitan area.
Richly illustrated in black-and-white.
