SIRIUS, The Blue Sparrowhawk VII: Point Zero. - Lot 279
SIRIUS, The Blue Sparrowhawk VII: Point Zero. Paris, Dupuis, 1954. Quarto-sized booklet with a full-color illustrated cover. Second edition of this album from the famous *L'Épervier Bleu* series, one of the great creations of Sirius (Max Mayeu), a major figure of the golden age of Franco-Belgian comics. Published by Dupuis, Point Zéro is the seventh installment in the adventures of the famous sailor-adventurer and showcases the author’s full artistic maturity. Created in the immediate postwar period for readers of *Le Journal de Spirou*, the series blends maritime adventure, mystery, espionage, and exploration. In this installment, Sirius crafts a fast-paced narrative in which chases, unexplained disappearances, and conspiracies unfold one after another in an atmosphere of suspense characteristic of 1950s adventure comics. The artwork, with its highly readable narrative style, perfectly illustrates the qualities that made Sirius famous: effective composition, dynamic panel layout, and a remarkable sense of action. The color pages retain all the freshness and graphic elegance characteristic of Dupuis’s productions from this period. The *L'Épervier Bleu* series holds an important place in the history of Belgian comics and is one of the key milestones leading up to the major adventure series that would establish the *Spirou* magazine’s international reputation. Older volumes of the series, especially those in satisfactory condition, remain highly sought after by collectors of classic comics. A second-edition copy including the cover, title page, and 46 color pages. The cover is in good condition. The interior is very fresh and well-preserved. A representative example of the golden age of Franco-Belgian comics, created by one of the iconic authors of Dupuis Publishing.
