REICH (Károly) - DEVECSERI (Gábor), *Variációk* (Variations) - Lot 267
REICH (Károly) - DEVECSERI (Gábor), *Variációk* (Variations) Budapest, undated (circa 1970s–1980s). A tiny square-format book (approximately 35 x 35 mm), bound in the publisher’s burgundy synthetic material. A charming Hungarian miniature book illustrated by Károly Reich (1922–1988), one of the most famous Hungarian illustrators of the 20th century. The volume accompanies a poetic text by Gábor Devecseri and features a series of delicate pen-and-ink drawings accented with red, blending female figures, floral motifs, and mythological imagery in the spirit of ex-libris and miniature bibliophile books. With its Lilliputian format and the finesse of its graphic execution, this work belongs to the tradition of Central European miniature books, which are particularly sought after by specialized collectors. Reich’s original illustrations, characterized by great linear elegance, constitute the main attraction of this copy. Condition: The binding is in generally good condition despite some scuffing and minor wear on the headbands and corners. The interior is very fresh and complete.
