HAHN (André), DUMAÎTRE (Paule), & SAMION-CONTET (Janine), History of Medicine and Medical Literature as Reflected in the Collections of the Library of the Paris Faculty of Medicine.
Foreword by Julien Cain. Introduction by Professor Léon Binet.
Paris, Olivier Perrin, 1962.
Large quarto, publisher’s binding in red cloth illustrated with gold motifs.
A comprehensive overview of the history of medicine and medical bibliophilia, based on the remarkable collections of the Library of the Paris Faculty of Medicine. The work traces the evolution of medical knowledge from antiquity to the present day, while devoting significant attention to the history of scientific books, medical printing, and anatomical illustration.
Richly illustrated with numerous black-and-white and color reproductions, it showcases several of the most famous landmarks of medical bibliography: incunabula, Renaissance anatomical treatises, surgical texts, herbals, and major scholarly publications. The reproductions of the *Fasciculus Medicinae*, editions by Jean de Vigo, and the earliest anatomical treatises provide a remarkable overview of European medical iconography.
A beautiful copy preserved in its original publisher’s binding. The binding is in very good condition despite a few slight signs of wear. The interior is fresh, abundantly illustrated, and perfectly legible.
