GRANGER (Ernest). New Universal Geography. The New World. Aspects of Nature. Agricultural, Industrial, and Commercial Resources. Human Life.
Paris and London, Librairie Hachette, 1922.
Complete set of 10 in-4 fascicles, in their original illustrated covers, preserved in 2 cardboard folders from the publisher, stamped and titled in red.
An important popular geography publication conceived by Ernest Granger, an associate professor of history and geography, offering a comprehensive synthesis of geographical knowledge from the early 20th century. The work presents the continents, nations, landscapes, natural resources, economic activities, and populations of the world through a wealth of illustrated material.
The collection is illustrated with 160 maps and 852 engravings and photographic reproductions, offering an exceptional panorama of the world as it was perceived on the eve of the great geopolitical upheavals of the 20th century. The volumes devoted to Europe, North Africa, the Near East, Asia, and the major colonial powers now constitute a particularly valuable iconographic and documentary source for the history of geography and representations of the world.
The original illustrated covers, preserved in protective sleeves, are a feature rarely found intact and enhance the bibliophilic appeal of the set.
Condition
