DOUMIC (René). Lamartine. - Lot 142
DOUMIC (René). Lamartine. Paris, Librairie Hachette et Cie, 1912. In-8, Bradel binding, modern blue half-cloth, black title label, covers preserved. A literary study devoted to Alphonse de Lamartine, published in the series *Les Grands Écrivains Français*. An influential critic of the late 19th century and a member of the Académie française, René Doumic skillfully traces the intellectual development, poetic work, and political activities of the author of *Méditations poétiques*. The work provides an excellent overview of how Lamartine was received in the early 20th century and remains a representative example of academic literary criticism during the Third Republic. Illustrated with a separate portrait of Lamartine based on a miniature preserved at the Château de Saint-Point. This copy is bound in an elegant modern Bradel-style binding in blue half-cloth, with a smooth spine featuring a black title label. The original covers are preserved. The paper is uniformly and slightly yellowed. The interior is in good condition.
