BRAESCH (Félix), *Papiers de Chaumette*, published with an introduction and notes.
Published under the auspices of the Société de l'Histoire de la Révolution française.
Paris, at the headquarters of the Société de l'Histoire de la Révolution française and at the Librairie Édouard Cornély, 1908.
Large 8vo, blue Bradel-style half-maroquin, marbled paper covers, spine titled in gold.
A scholarly edition devoted to the papers and correspondence of Pierre-Gaspard Chaumette (1763–1794), a major figure of the French Revolution, prosecutor of the Paris Commune, and a key player in the Hébertist movement. Historian Félix Braesch has compiled here a collection of documents, letters, and archival materials, accompanied by a substantial critical introduction that sheds light on Chaumette’s political career from his early days in Nevers to his role in the revolutionary events.
This publication is one of the primary printed sources for the study of Chaumette and Parisian political life during the Revolution. The numerous notes, archival references, and the editor’s commentary make it an invaluable resource for historians of the revolutionary period.
A fine copy in an elegant Bradel binding in blue half-maroquin. The binding is in good condition, showing only a few slight signs of wear on the head and foot caps and the joints. The interior is very fresh, with the paper uniformly preserved.
