Confined for several decades to a psychiatric hospital in Rio de Janeiro, Bispo do Rosário developed a monumental body of work consisting of embroideries, assemblages, inventories, and symbolic objects intended to reconstruct the world from a perspective that was both mystical and encyclopedic.
