PICASSO (Pablo) - LEVEL (André). - Lot 220
PICASSO (Pablo) - LEVEL (André). Paris, Éditions G. Crès & Cie, “Cahiers d'Aujourd'hui” series, circa 1923–1924. A rare monograph on Pablo Picasso by André Level, one of the first critics and collectors to recognize the importance of the Spanish master. Published in the famous series edited by George Besson, this volume is among the earliest French studies devoted to Picasso at a time when Cubism was still a recent movement. Illustrated with reproductions of works spanning the artist’s formative periods, this volume now serves as a valuable record of the critical reception of Picasso during the interwar period. Condition noted: paperback with a filled-in dust jacket, old repairs to the corners, library stamp. Interior clean.
