MÜLLER (Heinrich Anton) (1869–1930). - Lot 197
MÜLLER (Heinrich Anton) (1869–1930).
Catalog of Machines, Drawings, and Writings.
Edited by Roman Kurzmeyer. Bern, Kunstmuseum Bern / Stroemfeld-Roter Stern.
An important catalog devoted to Heinrich Anton Müller, an iconic figure of Swiss Art Brut and closely associated with the discoveries that inspired the research of Hans Prinzhorn and later Jean Dubuffet. Institutionalized for much of his life, Müller created a fascinating universe composed of visionary drawings, texts, and above all, imaginary machines animated by mechanical movements.
This seminal study brings together for the first time a vast body of drawings, manuscripts, and reconstructions of his devices, highlighting the uniqueness of an artist long overlooked but now regarded as one of the major precursors of European Art Brut.
A richly illustrated volume, published to coincide with a major exhibition at the Kunstmuseum in Bern.
Substantial in-4 volume, publisher’s hardcover. Text in German.
