Édition des Monuments Historiques, Photographic Archives of Art and History, n.d. (circa 1930–1950).
A beautiful photo album dedicated to the church and royal monastery of Brou, a masterpiece of Flamboyant Gothic architecture built in Bourg-en-Bresse between 1512 and 1532 at the behest of Margaret of Austria in memory of her husband Philibert the Fair, Duke of Savoy.
Illustrated with numerous black-and-white photographic reproductions highlighting the exterior architecture, the princely tombs, the choir stalls, the sculptures, and the ornamental details of this major monument of Burgundian and Savoyard art. The introductory text traces the history of the foundation and the life of Margaret of Austria, an iconic figure of the European Renaissance.
