GAUGUIN (Paul) & VAN GOGH (Vincent) Collections of the Vincent van Gogh National Museum, Amsterdam. Exhibition presented at the Dutch Institute in Paris, May 14–June 29, 1975. Exhibition catalog devoted to the writings of these two major figures of Post-Impressionism. The volume brings together reproductions of letters, manuscripts, autobiographical documents, and testimonies illustrating the intellectual and artistic relationships between Paul Gauguin and Vincent van Gogh. It includes, in particular, entries devoted to their correspondents and close associates, such as Georges-Daniel de Monfreid. This is a particularly interesting document for studying the artists’ thought, their correspondence, and the development of their aesthetic theories.
