LETELLIER (Simon). (?-1644). Advisor and physician to Louis XIII. P.S. "Letellier". S.l., June 26, 1633. 1 page in-4 oblong on parchment. Beautiful graphic design. Rare autograph receipt from an ordinary physician to Louis XIII, concerning payment of his wages to the King's household. Simon Letellier acknowledges having received from "Monsieur Sainctot, conseiller du Roy et trésorier général de sa maison" the sum of "trois cens livres tournois" corresponding to the October, November and December quarters of his appointements as advisor and ordinary physician to the sovereign. This document is typical of the financial administration of the Court under Louis XIII, and testifies to the remuneration of medical officers attached to the King's personal service. A fine piece of parchment, with particularly elegant, nervous cursive handwriting. A few creases and slight soiling from use, small marginal traces of moisture without affecting the text. Very good overall appearance.
