B.A.S. "L. Vitet" to a correspondent.
S.l.n.d. [December 18]. 1 page in-12.
Charming bill of recommendation concerning the European scholarly and museum world.
Ludovic Vitet asks his correspondent to welcome and guide "Mr. Labell, one of Germany's most eminent professors" to his museum, a testimony to the intellectual and artistic exchanges between France and Germany in the mid-19th century:
"Would you, my dear sir, do the honors of your museum to Mr. Labell, one of Germany's most eminent professors."
The bill ends with a warm courtesy:
"A thousand friendships and thanks."
A lovely document revealing Vitet's role in the scholarly, artistic and heritage circles of his time. Beautiful, well-formed handwriting, neatly signed "L. Vitet".
