JACOB (Louis Léon, comte). - Lot 198
JACOB (Louis Léon, comte).
1768-1854. French admiral, Minister of the Navy under the July Monarchy, peer of France.
L.A.S. "Jacob" to Comte de Rambuteau. Paris, December 3, 1834. 1 p. in-8, autograph address on verso: "Rue St Florentin n°3".
Interesting letter of social and political recommendation addressed to the Comte de Rambuteau, then Prefect of the Seine. Admiral Jacob requests two tickets to a session of the Chambre des Pairs for "two foreign ladies" wishing to attend:
"I would be most obliged if you would kindly provide me with two tickets for Friday's session, for two foreign ladies, who are anxious to attend this session...".
He adds that a few days earlier he had already obtained tickets "for the quaestors' gallery", and repeats his thanks.
A fine letter testifying to the political sociability and customs of the July Monarchy, at a time when Jacob had just left the Ministry of the Navy (November 1834). Ample and energetic signature.
Good condition.
