PHILIPPE, Pierre-Paul - Lot 167
PHILIPPE, Pierre-Paul (1905-1984). French Dominican Cardinal of the Roman Curia, Prefect of the Congregation for Eastern Churches. Greetings card with autograph signed mailing. December 29, 1983. In-12 oblong. Official card printed on behalf of Cardinal Pierre-Paul Philippe, presenting his Christmas and New Year greetings: "Presents his best wishes for Christmas and the New Year..." enriched with a long autograph letter in blue ink, dated "Dec. 29, 1983", and signed: "P.-P. Card. Philippe o.p." The handwritten text evokes "memories" and "the expression of his faithful union in the service of the Truth of Christ", in a spirit very characteristic of Dominican spirituality and the language of the Roman Curia at the time. A fine piece of ecclesiastical courtesy from an important 20th-century French cardinal, close to the Vatican's doctrinal authorities under John XXIII and Paul VI. Good condition; slight marginal pinkish trace, not serious.
