PERRAUD, Adolphe - Lot 158
PERRAUD, Adolphe Adolphe Perraud Printed announcement of episcopal consecration addressed to a correspondent from Anjou. Paris, June 29, 1874. 1 large oblong sheet in-8, with stamped and cancelled envelope. Rare official invitation announcing the consecration ceremony of Abbé Adolphe Perraud, priest of the Oratoire, professor of ecclesiastical history at the Sorbonne and future cardinal of the Catholic Church. The document specifies that the consecration will take place in the church of Saint-Sulpice, on Monday June 29, 1874, "at half past eight very precisely". The text mentions the presence of Cardinal Joseph Guibert as the consecrating prelate, assisted by several bishops, as well as that of Mgr Meglia, His Holiness' nuncio. A very elegant lithographed document on fine-striped laid paper, preserved with its Angers-addressed mailing envelope franked with two 10-centime Ceres stamps. A few circulation creases and light marginal foxing; well preserved.
