Lyon, February 7, 1828 - Autun, February 10, 1906.
Oratorian, religious historian, future bishop of Autun then cardinal of the Catholic Church.
L.A.S. "Adolphe Perraud", Paris, May 16, 1867; 3 pages in-8 on Oratoire embossed paper.
Charming letter of friendship and congratulations addressed to a correspondent on the occasion of his forthcoming marriage.
Perraud opens his letter with warmth:
"I received your visit with great pleasure".
He regrets not being able to devote more time to his friend during his forthcoming visit to Paris:
"when you come to Paris in June, no doubt to attend to the forthcoming preparations for your wedding".
The future cardinal then delicately evokes the importance of this new stage in his life:
"my wishes will unite with those of your parents and friends for this great and solemn moment in your life".
A beautiful conclusion, full of affection and humanity:
"Your most affectionately devoted, Adolphe Perraud".
A postscript also mentions news of the "Dubourg family", testifying to Perraud's personal ties in the Catholic and intellectual circles of his time.
An elegant and intimate letter, representative of Adolphe Perraud's private correspondence before his accession to the episcopate.
