PÉROT. - Lot 124
PÉROT. Physician. L.A.S. "Pérot" addressed to "Monsieur" [de Greiche]. Delme, January 29, 1814. 1 page in-4. Interesting letter concerning medical expenses incurred for the care of a lady staying in Nancy. Doctor Pérot requests reimbursement of a sum of one hundred francs advanced for the treatment of a certain "Madame votre tante": "J'ai bien voulu de avoir la complaisance de remettre à Mr Blanpié aubergiste de Delme (...) la somme de cent francs qui me sont dus pour le traitement que j'ai fait à Madame votre tante...". He specifies that he has already granted delays in payment, but now asks for prompt settlement: "... although you are entitled to both [estates], I beg you to remove any difficulties..." This document is typical of the financial relations surrounding provincial medical practice under the Empire and the nascent Restoration, mixing care, cash advances and family mediation. Legible handwriting. Bends and minor marginal foxing.
