GUINGAND (Suzanne) GUINGAND (Madame de) Autograph card signed and addressed to Jacques Mortane, undated [ca. 1918-1920]. 1 p. in-12 oblong on carte de visite printed "MADAME DE GUINGAND". A moving card of condolence addressed to writer and journalist Jacques Mortane after the death of Madame Mortane. The mother of pilot Gilbert de Guingand, a fighter aviator in the Escadrille des Coqs who died accidentally in 1918, writes: "[...] I am sorry, dear Sir, to learn so belatedly of your great bereavement and to be able to associate myself with it only by the assurance of my constant and great sympathy [...]" A fine testimonial of esteem and loyalty addressed to Jacques Mortane, a leading figure in aeronautical journalism and author of numerous works devoted to the aces of French aviation during the Great War. Small trace of old mounting in upper corner. Good condition.
