GUINGAND (Suzanne) - Lot 80
GUINGAND (Suzanne)
GUIGAND (Madame)
Autograph card signed and addressed to the director of the magazine "Paroles d'Ailes", undated [ca. 1918-1919].
Handwritten postcard, 2 pp. in-12.
Moving card from the mother of a fallen soldier thanking the editor of the aeronautical magazine for dedicating an article to her lost son. She writes:
"[...] you were able to highlight the merits of the infantry, which we are sometimes tempted to forget [...] The fact of a simple infantryman going up to the assault deserves that we bow very low before the one who bravely made the sacrifice of his life in order to preserve for us our great title of French [...]".
She adds with pride that her son "was recognized as the youngest officer of the Legion of Honor".
A fine patriotic and deeply human testimony, in the context of the Great War and the cult of sacrifice of French combatants. Document quoted and reproduced in a specialized catalog devoted to aviation and war correspondence.
Very good condition.
