GAUDOT, E.-C. - Lot 67
GAUDOT, E.-C. Pasteur d'après un livre récent. Besançon, Imprimerie de Paul Jacquin, 1901. In-8, 28 pages, in printed gray brochure cover. A rare pamphlet published just a few years after Louis Pasteur's death, intended to retrace the life and work of the scientist, with a view to popularizing science and paying national tribute. The author, E.-C. Gaudot, discusses Pasteur's major discoveries and their impact on modern medicine and the history of French science. Printed in Besançon - a region closely linked to Pasteur's youth in the Jura region - this brochure is an interesting editorial testimony to the scientist's immediate posterity at the turn of the 20th century. The sober typography of the cover and the modest nature of this publication contrast with the historical importance of the subject. Copy in used condition: grey cover slightly soiled and faded, small creases and marginal wear.
