GASTYNE, Jules de Jules de Gastyne L.A.S. "J. de Gastyne" to "Mon cher ami". Paris, November 13. 1 page in-8. Interesting letter addressed to a colleague about journalistic research and press documentation. Jules de Gastyne reminds his correspondent of an old promise before asking for his help with an editorial project: "You would really be doing me a favor at a time when I'm working on reorganizing the Nain Jaune...". In particular, he asked him to send him certain press issues that had become useful for his research: "...by sending me the issues you have of L'Aveu-Figaro which could be of great use to me." A revealing document about the working methods of the press and of writers in the late 19th century, when the circulation of newspapers, collections and clippings was an essential tool for documentation and literary polemic. Jules de Gastyne was a prolific figure in popular novels and boulevard theater. A contributor to numerous newspapers, he was notably involved in several satirical and political press ventures. Good overall condition, despite slight foxing and wear folds.
