GASPARIN (Adrien de). - Lot 64
GASPARIN (Adrien de). Born in Orange, 1783-1862. French agronomist, administrator and politician. Deputy, then Prefect of Vaucluse, Minister of the Interior under the July Monarchy in 1839, Peer de France from 1834. B.A.S. "A. de Gasparin". Paris, February 14, 1846. 1 page in-8. Autograph bill addressed to an unidentified correspondent, in which Adrien de Gasparin transmits the text of a proposal requested the previous day: "The bill you did me the honor of writing yesterday only reached me in the evening, at my home. I enclose herewith the text of my proposal. This short but elegant letter illustrates the political and parliamentary activity of one of the great administrative figures of the July Monarchy. A renowned agronomist as well as a statesman, Gasparin played an important role in the agricultural, administrative and legislative issues of his day. The document, entirely autographed, is written in the fast, nervous cursive typical of mid-nineteenth-century political correspondence. An interesting statesman's piece, combining parliamentary life and private exchanges, testifying to the daily workings of political networks under the reign of Louis-Philippe.
