DUBOSC (Georges, known as Myop) - Lot 53
DUBOSC (Georges, known as Myop)
Rouen, 1854 - 1927. French painter, art critic and journalist, contributor to numerous Normandy newspapers and historian of artistic life in Rouen.
L.A.S. "Georges Dubosc" to "Madame Absire".
Rouen, December 15, 1920. 1/2 page in-8 on graph paper in black ink.
Curious and pleasant autograph letter from Georges Dubosc concerning a domestic laundry matter, revealing the daily life of a Rouen man of letters and chronicler at the beginning of the 20th century.
The author writes with simplicity and cordiality:
"My maid tells me that she has met you and that you would like to take charge of my laundry..."
He then asks his correspondent to collect "the dirty laundry as soon as possible" from his home on the Bouvreuil ramp in Rouen, before concluding:
"We look forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely with best regards."
An endearingly intimate and trivial document, contrasting with Dubosc's scholarly and artistic reputation as an important figure in Normandy's cultural life.
A well-preserved manuscript, despite some foxing, handling marks and light marginal creasing.
