DEBRE (Robert) - Lot 31
DEBRE (Robert) Robert Debré Born in Sedan in 1882, died in 1978. A doctor, resistance fighter and associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine, he is considered one of the founders of modern pediatrics in France. He took an active part in the Resistance during the Second World War, and played a major role in the organization of French hospital medicine. L.A.S. "Robert Debré" addressed to a colleague. Paris, July 10, n.d. 2 pages in-4 on the letterhead of Docteur Robert Debré, 8 rue de Solférino (VIIe). Important medical letter concerning the clinical case of a young patient suffering from pleuropulmonary congestion. Debré accurately describes the symptoms observed: "signs of bacillary pleuropulmonary congestion of the lower part of the left side", suggestive of "cortico-pleuritis". He notes the evolution of pleural and pulmonary signs, recommends an X-ray and a sputum examination, and advises certain treatments to stimulate the patient's appetite. The letter testifies to the diagnostic rigor of the great pediatrician and his particularly attentive clinical approach. It includes a number of technical medical terms, as well as detailed therapeutic considerations. The document concludes with a recommendation for a stay in the mountains to aid the young patient's convalescence. A fine handwritten medical document, interesting both for the history of French pediatrics and for the study of clinical practice in the 20th century. Estimate: 250 / 400 € approx.
