JACQUES MARTIN - Alix - The Golden Sphinx - Lot 295
JACQUES MARTIN - Alix - The Golden Sphinx
JACQUES MARTIN
Alix - The Golden Sphinx.
Casterman, 1971. In-4 hardback, boards illustrated in color.
Second album in the mythical historical saga of Alix, originally published in 1956. In this seminal opus, Alix travels through Egypt on a secret mission for Julius Caesar. On this journey, he meets his faithful and inseparable companion Enak. Together, they must avoid the traps of a dangerous occult brotherhood and survive the pitfalls set by the fearsome Arbacès.
Here, Jacques Martin signs one of the pillars of Franco-Belgian comics, marking the true starting point of Alix's great journeys. The first plate features a magnificent scene of an Egyptian port at dusk, bathed in the warm light characteristic of Martin's sense of color.
