JACQUES MARTIN - Alix - The Prince of the Nile - Lot 291
JACQUES MARTIN - Alix - The Prince of the Nile JACQUES MARTIN Alix - The Prince of the Nile. Casterman, 1974. In-4 hardback, boards illustrated in color. Eleventh album in the famous historical saga of Alix, created by Jacques Martin. The plot takes the young Gaul and his faithful friend Enak back to the land of Egypt. They find themselves at the heart of a ruthless power struggle involving palace plots, religious fanatics and the tragic fate of a crown prince. Jacques Martin marvelously uses the majestic and mysterious setting of ancient Egypt to weave an intense political tragedy. The author's graphic design, with its absolute documentary precision, reaches a high level of maturity. The night scenes, the temple backdrops and the wild desert atmosphere - strikingly illustrated by the pack of hyenas on the cover - give this album a particularly dramatic atmosphere. Justification page : CASTERMAN 1974 - Translation and reproduction rights reserved for all countries. Printer's code letter: D (indicating first print run / original 1974 edition). Second plate: the catalog of "Déjà parus" titles stops precisely at the present volume (Le Prince du Nil) for the Alix series, and at the title Le Repaire du loup for the Lefranc series. Copy in good condition. Solid original boards. First cover remains fresh, with dense, icy, high-contrast colors, featuring Alix battling hyenas. Corners and headpieces slightly dulled, with minor edgewear. Interior perfectly clean, sound and complete, with no erasures or tears. A very fine copy of this authentic 1974 first edition. One of the highlights of Alix's Egyptian period.
