JACQUES MARTIN
Alix - The Tower of Babel.
Casterman, 1981. In-4 hardback, boards illustrated in color.
Sixteenth album in the famous Alix historical comic series, created by Jacques Martin. The plot takes the young Gallo-Roman hero and his companion Enak to Mesopotamia, to the heart of the legendary remains of Babylon. There, they come face to face with a far-reaching conspiracy to restore the power of the ancient city using a secret scientific weapon, directly threatening the hegemony of Rome.
Jacques Martin delivers spectacular architectural drawings, immortalizing the monumental ziggurat of Babel. His rigorous drawing, the pinnacle of historic Ligne Claire, is magnified by dramatic compositions and dark stormy skies that accentuate the tragic grandeur of the story.

Solid original boards. First cover remains fresh and bright, with a nice regularity of warm ziggurat hues. Corners and covers very slightly dulled, with minor edgewear. Inside clean, sound and complete, with no erasures or tears. A fine copy of this 1981 first edition.
One of the saga's most spectacular and exotic journeys.
