SPIROU - Journal album, n°73 Dupuis, late 1959 - early 1960. Large in-4 hardback, red cloth spine, first cover illustrated in color. Very handsome early collection from Journal Spirou, corresponding to issue 73, in the classic suite of Dupuis-bound albums from the great Franquin period. The particularly spectacular cover depicts a rocket taking off, in a dynamic composition featuring Spirou, Fantasio and the Count of Champignac in the foreground. This iconography, strongly influenced by the series' scientific and adventurous aesthetic, is one of the most sought-after covers of the late 1950s. Issue 73 is well listed on the specialist antiquarian market.
