STÉPHANE GUBERT (B. 1973) Mickey Wood, 2022 Acrylic and spray on wood, signed, dated and titled on back Diam. 74.5 cm Established French artist Stéphane Gubert began painting his bedroom walls at an early age. His vibrant, colorful pieces feature dynamic motifs and characters from popular culture. Although if you look closely his pieces contain symbols, landmarks and hidden messages, each piece is a commentary on contemporary society and world events. Stéphane's use of bold primary colors and large canvases creates a powerful statement that will capture the viewer's attention and reward closer inspection. Stéphane has exhibited his work in solo and group shows in Europe and America. He is represented today in prestigious galleries such as White Room in the Hamptons, The Daville Baillie Gallery in Johannesburg. His work was recently presented at the Salon International de Street Art in Paris. On this occasion, he was interviewed for two magazines (Figaro Magazine and Connaissance des Arts). According to several art media, he is considered a worthy successor to pop artists such as Roy Lichtenstein and Erro.
