WALLON (Henri) - Lot 296
WALLON (Henri) Paris, 1879 - 1962. Psychologist, physician, professor at the Collège de France. Major figure in child psychology, associated with the educational reform known as the Langevin-Wallon plan. Autograph letter signed "H. Wallon", addressed to writer and critic Pierre Abraham. S.l., June 27, 1931. 1 page 3/4 in-8. Writing paper. Interesting letter in which Henri Wallon thanks Pierre Abraham for sending his recently published work, Les Créatures chez Balzac (Gallimard), while apologizing for not having replied earlier. He vividly explains that he had wanted to read it before talking about it, but evokes the constraints of the end of the university year, overwhelmed with papers to correct: "by evening I'm a total idiot". In a warm, familiar tone, he announces that he will be taking the book on vacation to read it "with a rested mind", in a favorable atmosphere, "in the sound of the waves or the air", a suggestive image of meditative reading. He also mentions his imminent departure after exams, and his regret at not being able to visit Le Chesnay, recalling the quality of their exchanges and encounters. This letter, both lively and personal, sheds light on Wallon's intellectual and friendly relations with the literary world of his time, and testifies to the attentive reception he reserved for contemporary critical works.
