TARNIER (Stéphane). - Lot 276
TARNIER (Stéphane). Born in Aiserey (Côte-d'Or), 1828 - died in Paris, 1897. French surgeon and obstetrician, professor at the Paris Faculty of Medicine, member then president of the Académie de médecine. One of the pioneers of modern obstetrics, he introduced the incubator for premature newborns. Autograph letter signed "S. Tarnier", addressed to a friend. Paris, May 29, 1880. 1/2 page in-12. Engraved letterhead. Charming letter of thanks in which Tarnier expresses his gratitude for the help given to Dr. Cros, evoking with a familiar and benevolent tone "le petit Jacques". A short, simple bill, revealing the practitioner's humanity and personal relationships in the medical world of the late 19th century.
