ROUX (Émile). - Lot 263
ROUX (Émile). Born in Confolens, 1853 - died in Paris, 1933. French physician and bacteriologist, a close collaborator of Louis Pasteur. He played a key role in the study of diphtheria and developed the first anti-diphtheria serum (1894). Director of the Pasteur Institute, he was one of the leading figures in French experimental medicine. Autograph card signed "Dr. Roux", addressed to "Monsieur le Président". Paris, July 3, 1907. 1 page in-12. Printed Institut Pasteur letterhead. Apologetic letter in which Roux states that he is unable to attend a meeting of a distribution commission, and that he has been retained by the Hygiene Commission of the Ministry of War. An interesting document in terms of its administrative and scientific context, testifying to the direct involvement of leading physicians in government health authorities at the beginning of the 20th century.
