ROUX (Émile). - Lot 262
ROUX (Émile). Born in Confolens, 1853 - died in Paris, 1933. French physician and bacteriologist, one of Louis Pasteur's main collaborators. A major figure in microbiology, he made a decisive contribution to the study of diphtheria and, with Alexandre Yersin, developed the first anti-diphtheria serum (1894). Director of the Institut Pasteur, of which he was one of the scientific pillars. Autograph card signed "Dr. Roux", written in red ink, addressed to a correspondent. Paris, August 1, 1917. 1 page in-16. Printed Institut Pasteur letterhead. Charming bill in which the scientist, while expressing his desire for a meeting, temporarily declines to meet due to an imminent trip to Angoulême. He proposes several specific times on his return to the Institut Pasteur, courteously making himself available to his interlocutor. A vivid account of the day-to-day running of the Institut Pasteur during the war, revealing the availability and rigor of one of the great architects of modern medicine.
