REISET (Gustave Armand Henri, comte de) - Lot 249
REISET (Gustave Armand Henri, comte de) Born in Rouen (or Mont-Saint-Aignan), 1821 - 1905. Diplomat, minister plenipotentiary, French ambassador, general councillor of Eure. L.A.S. "Cte de Reiset" to Monsieur, Château de Breuil (Eure), December 8, 1872, 1 page in-8. Short, elegant autograph letter from the Comte de Reiset, written from the Château de Breuil, concerning a matter of tax regulations and contributions. The Count asks his correspondent to kindly inform him of the outstanding amount: "Be good enough to tell me what I still owe you for my taxes". so that he can send him the funds: "so that I can send you my money by post". He attaches to this request an expression of his memories and distinguished feelings, in a style highly characteristic of 19thᵉ century aristocratic correspondence. In a postscript, he adds: "Mad du bois writes me that she has paid part of my contributions". Interesting administrative and private document, well dated and signed. Very good condition. Minor marginal wear at bottom corner, not serious.
