PASSPORT - CONSULATE GENERAL OF FRANCE IN LONDON Under the reign of Louis-Philippe I, King of the French. Partly printed and handwritten document, signed, issued in London, July 13, 1841, large folio on laid paper, with red Consulate wet stamp. A very fine decorative and historical piece, issued in the name of His Majesty the King of the French, under the July Monarchy. This passport orders "MM. les Officiers civils et militaires de laisser passer librement Mr Edward Martin de Waterford - Ireland - étudiant, avec son confrère Mr William Doyle de Wexford - Ireland". the two travelers being authorized to go : "to Paris and Rome". In the left margin, the document features a handwritten physical description of the bearer, including age, height, hair and eye color, as well as the bearer's autograph signature. At the bottom of the document is the signature of the Consul General of France in Bristol, Henry George Fowler, Consular Agent, accompanied by the Consulate's wet seal. Very fine calligraphic presentation, with large title: "In the name of His Majesty the King of the French". A particularly attractive piece, with its format, official typography and highly decorative character. Satisfactory condition: folds from use, slight patina of paper, well-preserved seal.
